Phantom Pleasures by Julie Leto

Format: Print Books
Series:

The beginning of a new series, this book does a great job of introducing the Forsyths and the mystery that surrounds what happened to them one fateful evening in 1747. When the Forsyth brothers approach Valoren seeking to save their sister and the gypsies living there, something odd happens.

This first story focuses on Damon, who becomes trapped in a portrait only to be released on 2008 by Alexa Chandler. She doesn't understand what is going on when she becomes stranded in the castle she inherits on the Isla de Fantasmas and unknowingly releases Damon. However, she does know she is intensely attracted to the handsome stranger. They grow closer while they try to figure out what exactly is going on and how they can free him from the castle now that he is free of the portrait.

The secondary characters, from Alexa's brother, Jacob, to her best friend, Cat, and the Rousseau's really enhance the story. What is going on outside the castle really makes the story stand out and builds the anticipation for the future books in this series.

I absolutely loved this book and can't wait until the next on comes out.
