A Soldier Comes Home by Cindi Myers (HSuper 06 ’08)

Ray returns home from Iraq to an empty house, his wife has left him and abandoned their child to his parents.  Chrissie lives next door, she was friendly with Ray’s ex, but not close.  When Ray first meets her, he blames her somewhat for his wife’s desertion.  Soon, he moves past that, but with Ray having a potential custody battle on his hands and with Chrissie having already lost one husband to the war, can they have a relationship.  I enjoyed this book, the story of Chrissie and Ray felt very real to me.  I did have some issues with the ending – felt like the author was ordered to cut pages and the ending got hit, but overall it was a good story. Totals – 101 - 69 Harlequin, 23 Non-Harlequin, 9 audio, 4 re-read TBR Challenge – 16 out of 91 TBR2 Challenge – Books Acquired – 56 books, 57 books read, 35 library books (91 total print) NFM
