Erin Deluca is a firefighter in Troublesome Gulch, Colorado.  She is fighting a blaze in a house and watches a ceiling collapse and two colleagues fall thru. She brings one to safety and watches as the home is engulfed in flames.  A distraught, pregnant woman comes running up and tells her that her husband had run back in to get the cat and she has not seen him since. Looking at the building Erin knows the man will not be coming out and that nobody can go in to save him.  It triggers memories of the prom night disaster when the car carrying four couples overturned and burst into flames. Three of her friends died that night. One was left in a wheelchair for life. Erin loses her fiancé and unborn child.  She was burned badly because her dress caught on fire and she went thru many surgeries and years of rehab.

Erin leaves the current fire scene and gets cleaned up and drives to the city to lose herself. She stumbles into a bar but cannot drink the shot she ordered. When someone asks her to dance she finally finds a way to work out some of the emotions she is feeling.  Nate goes into the bar after meeting with clients.  He just wants to unwind. He notices the girl who does not drink her drink and dances with multiple partners.  He is aware that she does not even know when the partners change and is lost in her own world.  He is also aware of the predators copping a feel and trying to take advantage.  He goes in to help her and she breaks down in tears.  He finally eases her outside.  She is too messed up to drive so he offers her the other bed in his hotel room.

Blurb: Until he showed up in Troublesome Gulch. And irony of ironies, Nate Walker was a pyrotechnics engineer—and when he saw the mystery woman who got away, now very pregnant, his entire being lit up. For Erin, it was a déjà vu moment brighter than any fireworks display—not about reliving pain, but about the joy of being in the arms of a loving man.…

To see how they work thru the issues – her a firefighter in a drought ridden area and him the fireworks engineer hired by the town for 4th of July, read the book.  I read it because I had read so many reviews here on how good it was…. In fact, that is why I bought it in the first place.

Rating – very good

Sensuality  - warm and intimate
