Charlie wants a suitable wife but doesn't want to be in thrall to love. Sarah doesn't want a conventional loveless marriage. She thinks he's agreed to her conditions and only after the wedding realises he's only loving in the bedroom but shuts her out of the rest of his life. Can she persuade him to open up? Why is he being so reticent? Who is trying to persuade her to sell the orphanage and its land?
I found this less gripping than the other Cynsters – though it was still very good. I felt it set up the subsequent book very well and I was very tempted by the next in the series. There was one major clue that fizzled out very disappointingly which may have had something to do with my mood. Nice conclusion and a nice glimpse of the Cynsters
