When his son Damian is kidnapped just as he's betrothed to Celeste, Alejandro sends Celeste to find Diego, Damian's twin brother, for a proxy wedding so that people won't gossip and Damian's life won't be in danger, but Diego is now a priest and though Diego and Celeste fall in love, it's wrong and they don't give in to their feelings. On the way back to Spain they first encounter pirates and then meet Damian. Which brother, if any, will Celeste marry? Will she be able to fulfil her dreams of a family for her brother?
This was intense and a lot was happening in a limited space, maybe more than was strictly necessary for a romance. While I enjoyed it, by the end I was impatient for the end to give my brain a bit of a rest from the intrigue.
