111. Lora Leigh ~ Wolf Breeds: Aiden's Charity ~ Ellora's Cave (TPB 2007)

Yet another amazing chapter in Lora Leigh's Breeds series.  The characters are strong and even during the worst, manage to hold onto the honour that makes these heroes and heroines just that.
I especially enjoyed the deeper look into the science of the Breed's and their mating heat... that was one of the things that first struck me as the story progressed.  I truly found it fascinating; as always this is a wonderful and tantalizing romance  ~ of course, it's also a very steamy and HOT read.

RATING:
Excellence: Excellent + ~ 4.5 stars
Steaminess: Inferno ~ of course!

FROM the BACK:
The forces of survival and destruction swirl in the darkest corners of men's minds.  The nature of the beast cannot be harnessed, and survival is the purest of all instincts.  Survival of the species itself goes soul deep.
But can the human heart accept and adapt as easily?  Can Charity bestow the love and the acceptance that has always been a part of her, to the man whose very survival depended on the hardening of his heart, of his soul? And can Aiden maintain that cruelty now, in the face of the sacrifices she made? Only time and nature can tell.

MY NOTES:
The strength of the emotional component of this story was fairly much the same, but the reason that I rated this a little higher is that there's so much more information coming in because Charity is, after Aiden's mate, first and foremost a scientist.  For many years she seemingly worked for the Council in the Labs; but she was far more than a Council puppet and she put her happiness, her safety, her very life on the line for the Breeds.   Six years after the Wolf Breeds escaped their prison, Charity has become one of the subjects for the Genetics Council's inhumane scientists.
It was a fascinating look at just what went on when a female went into the mating heat... and with Charity being at the forefront, there was a deeper look into the science which I really found fascinating.  Okay, sometimes I can be a geek... but I'm a happy geek 'cause there's books out there like LL's Aiden's Charity.

April's mini challenge ~ It’s Raining Men

Aiden is one angry, angry Breed... he's been holding onto his anger as a way to distance himself from the mating heat he experiences with Charity.  He really tries to be nasty and hateful over what he saw as her betrayal, but it's not long before he's doing all he can to protect her.  He's not a very introspective person, but that's a good thing with Charity ~ they complement each other's personalities very well.  As to who fits my image of Aiden?  This hunk right here:

Yes I am a readalholic and I don't want the 12 step program!!!

Jeannie,,,

If I remember rightly (and I could be way off) you're a big Lora Leigh fan as well.  Have you read any of her other Breed books?
The more I read of them, the more of her books I want to read... she's an amazing author!
In fact I just finished her latest Breed story in the anthology, Beyond the Dark, and it was everything and more.  If it's the first of her Breed stories that someone reads, then I'm sure that it will take them on a search for more of her writing.  I LOVED it... Matthias is so very, very... wow!
