Well, I finally finished it! Dawn's Awakening was an outstanding story ~ but then I expected no less. It's another excellent chapter in Lora Leigh's Breed series. And there was a lot more interaction between the various Breeds ~ Feline and Wolf. I'm very much enjoying watching the various Breeds work together for the benefit of all... and I can only hope that this series goes on for a long time to come. There are so many other Breeds that need to have their story told. Next up is Mercury Warrant's story ~ Mercury's War ~ coming out late this summer... I can hardly wait!
RATING:
Excellence: Excellent ~ 4.5 stars
Steaminess: Inferno
BOOK READ:
Lora Leigh; Dawn's Awakening; Berkley Sensation; February 2008
FROM the BACK:
The runt of the lab she was created in, Dawn Daniels endured years of torture by her pride brother and the Council soldiers. Finally freed from her torment, she's now a Breed Enforcer, in control of her own life. Then she's assigned to protect the one man destined to be her mate ~ and realizes it's far too easy to lose total control.
One of the Breeds' most important supporters, Seth Lawrence has spent years trying to forget Dawn, knowing that her lost innocence has made it impossible for her to get close to anyone. But suddenly neither of them can find the strength to fight the overwhelming passion between them. At least until the most brutal tormenter from Dawn's past reappears ~ and threatens to destroy their newfound love, along with their lives...
MY NOTES:
As I mentioned a few days ago in a blog post, very shortly into this book my emotions were already running amok. That fast Lora Leigh had me enmeshed so totally in Dawn's story that what affected her, got to me in a big way... and that's the beauty and strength of this amazing author's writing; how she can get you so connected with her characters that you are involved.
Dawn's story has been in the making for a few years now, and as I've watched her progress from a severly traumatized young woman to a woman who can make Breed males very wary in her presence, it's been a fascinating glimpse from time to time as she grows. She's the one that everyone protects ~ but is that what she really needs?
Come along on the journey as we follow Dawn's Awakening... from victim to survivor; from a woman lost to a woman in control; from a woman alone to a woman revelling in love. It's not an easy journey, by any means ~ but very often, the best that life has to give us comes after pain and suffering.
This is a story of family, fear, courage and most of all love and what this most powerful of emotions can do for anyone.

April's mini challenge ~ It’s Raining Men
Seth Lawrence is an amazing man... for 10 years he's done what he can to protect Dawn, to help her in any way that he can... but when he realizes that she needs far more than the protection that has been part of her life for so many years, he finds it within himself to provide all she needs ~ easy or not. An amazing man who is the perfect man for Dawn.
I like Seth, but for me he's larger than life and far more than I would need, or could handle. The guy on the cover is very much in the shadow, but what I see, I like! As to who I'd want to play Seth, I'd have to go with... *sigh* David Morin... fitness model... (I know I chose him for Aiden... but I found someone better... so all's good.)

LOl
I loved this book and this series. I just finished The Man Within - Tabor & Roni's story and Dawn is working around the new Breed compound as an enforcer in this one. I am now reading Elizabeth's Wolf and am totally drawn into this story which is part of the whole but is running with a different voice and I am loving it. Lots of people have raved about this one and I can see why.

Yes I am a readalholic and I don't want the 12 step program!!!
Hey Jeannie...
Oh I did love Elizabeth's Wolf... Dash is amazing... and HOT! And the connection that he had with Cassie right from the beginnining was...wow!

Breeds
Hmm...love those breeds! I'm trying to pace myself. I have both Dawn's Awakening and A Jaguar's Kiss, so I'm set for a while. I never thought of myself as a particulary fastidious person, but I'm finding that adhering to the chronology of the breeds stories helps me keep track of what I've read and God forbid, not miss any.
After A Jaguar's Kiss, I'll be caught up with what's been released, so I'll be busy with Kresley Cole's new IAD books coming out and not pining for Mercury's War.
You know, I should really spend more time getting the rest of my life in such neat order.

"A Jaguar's Kiss"
...that's in the anthology Shifter, right? Which one of the Breeds is this the story for? I'm definitely going to have to get it before I get too far away from LL's Breeds.
And Rogirl, I have to LOL regarding the pacing yourself comment... I don't do very well with such self-discipline. I mean, I can, but books bring out the least patient part of me... always have. Now I'm going to be chafing at the bit to get Shifter.... hopeless, totally hopeless!

A Jaguar's Kiss
LOL! I have to discipline myself with the books or I'd be spending so much money each month I'd have to get a second job just to fill my addiction. I got into e-books almost two years ago, just so I wouldn't have to wait for shipping--talk about pathetic, but I'm so happy. Immediate gratification is so good!
I know... eBooks are publisher's gift to...
addicted readers like us. I love that we get them immediately... doesn't necessarily mean that I'll read them right away ~ I'm developing a bit of a queue for my ebooks ~ but I've got them and I can read them just after I order them... works for me!

Hi Kathy, I have this
Hi Kathy, I have this one on my wishlist. Sounds like i have a really good one to look forward to.

Hey Kathy...
it really is an excellent book to look for.
Have you read any of the others in the series? Megan's Mark, Harmony's Way and Tanner's Scheme are all the Berkley Sensation stories of Lora Leigh's Breeds series. They can stand separate from the original series but, especially with Dawn, there is so much that goes on in LL's Feline Breeds books #1, 2 and 3 (Tempting the Beast, The Man Within & Kiss of Heat)

I recently read Megan's Mark, and have all the others waiting tbr. Thanx for letting me know they don't read well out-of-order.

Jag's Kiss
is in the Shifter Anthology and it is Natalie and Saban's story. He's a black jag and she's a school teacher. Great story.
