Faith Harper (illegitimate child of a sixteen-year old who left her with a great-aunt) has a one night stand in February and got pregnant but refused to say who the father was, thereby setting off the gossipmongers. When Nick Russo walks into her shop before Thanksgiving but clearly doesn't remember her, she faints and later realises he was too drunk and exhausted to remember anything of the night and that the news in town that he was married was just an undercover persona. Nick proposes but Faith doesn't want to get married just because of the baby. Nick has been plagued with erotic dreams since that night and once he gets over the shock he's determined to marry Faith and not just for the baby. Will he be able to convince her he's serious?
I liked the old fashioned family values, but also how she highlighted the hypocritical judgemental attitudes that can also be found in small towns. I could understand Nick being hurt by his family's criticism, I loved the way he treated Faith and managed to win her round
