136. Sharon Sala ~ The Healer ~ MIRA Romantic Suspense ~ April 2008

Sharon Sala is a favourite and autobuy author and has been for years... in both of her guises.  Until now, I figured that it was her stories written under Dinah McCall that were more mystical, but obviously not!  Either way, I was not disappointed in this story ~ and I have debck3 to thank for the fact that I moved this book up; so "Thanks Deb... great review!"

The connection that Jonah Gray Wolf has with animals is wonderful; his connection with Lucia is beautiful and right from the very beginning their spiritual union shone through.  This story took me away and it took me a little over 4 hours of interrupted reading to finsh... I did not want to put the book down.  If you enjoy mysticism connected to nature; if you enjoy a soul-deep connection in your romance; if suspense adds a little fillip to your reading, then this is a story for you.  VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

RATING:
Excellence: Excellent to OUTSTANDING ~ 4.5 stars

FROM the BACK:
IT IS A GIFT THAT MAY COST HIM EVERYTHING
All his life, Jonah Gray Wolf has had an uncanny connection to animals and the power to heal the sick and wounded.  Driven from the only home he's ever known by those who wish to harness his gift for profit, he becomes a drifter, working in out-of-the-way towns, never staying long.  It's a lonely life, but Jonah knows he's still being hunted ~ he can't afford to get close to anyone who might learn his secret.
In West Virginia he finds Luce, a tough but beautiful loner who knows all about keeping people at a distance ~ a kindred soul with whom he might dare to make a life.  But the hunters have caught Jonah's scent again.  Danger is coming to their mountain refuge ~ a confrontation that will be decided only by a force of nature.

re: The Healer

I haven't read anything by Sharon Sala before but I got this in my MIRA suspense shipment...sounds fantastic, I'll move it up in my own pile.  I love nature-centric stories.  Great review!

Now...

I REALLY want to read this one!!!!

Sharon Sala is a wonderful author...

Amalthea, I think you'll like this one... but then I'm rather biased.  Wink

I'm so glad

I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much. Wasn't the connection with the animals beautiful. I think this would've been good even without the added twists. The only thing I was disappointed in was where he came from. I so want to know that, enquiring minds and all that. What's that nudge Deb, how, what?

LOL... Deb, I was just saying...

that, as Debbie really wants to read The Healer, that she should give you a nudge if she doesn't have her own copy... that's all... nothing nasty.. I promise.  Sealed

re: The Healer

Hehe, just have to say that little conversation was awesome.

Okay, now I want to start this book tonight, but I also want to play piano and finish the laundry...what to do, what to do???

And belatedly...

Deb, I LOVED the way that Jonah was able to connect with the animals... pretty stirring stuff ~ and a couple of times... WoW!

Amalthea... LOL... Thank you.
As for the rest; personally I know what I'd go for... but that's because I don't play an instrument and laundry? Meh... not high on my list of priorities... sadly enough.  Innocent
