Cop Nik rushes to the shooting at the Church because his pricking thumb is warning him of danger. He finds JC hiding in the sacristy after witnessing someone shoot the priest, when his boss finds out JC is the mayor's daughter he assigns Nik to bodyguard duty. They end up irresistibly attracted to each other, but when JC identifies the shooter, the police chief alibis him. Will anyone believe her or will the killer succeed in eliminating her first? Then she gets kidnapped, will Nik and his brothers manage to rescue her in time? Were several different people trying to stop the wedding?
Word of advice – don't start this trilogy unless you have all of it waiting in your TBR, you're not going to want to stop after one or two. I made the mistake of "just starting" #3 when I was supposed to be going to sleep.

tsk tsk, you should know
tsk tsk, you should know better than to start a book at bedtime.

I
finished the Cop just as I went to bed, so I started the Defender
straight away (well DH was still watching the box) and then of course
