Divorced father Grant gets unexpected total custody of his young daughter when his ex gets killed in an accident, but Haley doesn't want this uncommunicative father, so he persuades his ex-wife's best friend Mia to stay temporarily to ease the transition. He knows that her engagement broke up because of her fiancé's affair with his ex-wife but she doesn't seem to realise that. Then the initial attraction they felt for each other before he was ever married to her friend flares up again. Should he tell her about her best friend or leave her with her illusions? Will his decision come back to haunt him?
I found this intriguing, there was something about it that bothered me but I can't quite put my finger on what. I loved the ending and Haley's growing acceptance of her father. Just as well her mother was dead or I'd have wanted to strangle her.
