Helena is in a car being washed away in a storm when Mason saves her and they spend the night stranded in his truck and make love. The next day he's determined to search for her just after his mentor's wedding where he's best man, but she's the bride. Twelve years later her husband dies and Helena needs Mason's help to save the family business from her son's half brother but her dead husband's letter reveals that he was sterile and her son is also Mason's. Now Mason is out for revenge for the lost years and he threatens to take away the company and her son and to send Helena to jail for embezzlement. Helena loves Mason, but the chance of a future together seems hopeless.
I was reading this extremely apprehensively as things got worse and worse and we were at page 150, thinking it would need a miracle to turn the situation around and to enable her to forgive him and unfortunately for me the miracle didn't happen. After all the nasty things he threw at her it wasn't logical or desirable (my pov) for him to simply ask her to forgive him and for her to reply "of course". Out of character, illogical and unreasonable.
