I totally did not remember this story at first, but then I read the first few pages and it started to come back to me.
Julia had decided to move her kids to Cannon Beach while her daughter recovered from leukemia (I think it was leukemia -- something serious, anyhow). She was very surprised to find an apartment to rent right in the very house that she used to daydream about when she was a teen.
Did I forget to mention that Cannon Beach is where her family always used to vacation? It's where she had her first crush on her brother's friend, Will.
What a surprise to find him still there, and single -- or was he? Could she help him get over the deaths of his wife and daughter? Or would he be married to a ghost forever?
Was there a ghost in the house? Was the dog partly human -- or did it just seem that way? Hmmmm, lots of interesting twists to this story.
This book is second in a series called "The Women of Brambleberry House". The first book is "The Daddy Makeover", and I don't know what the third one is. I do think I'll have to go looking for them, as this one was very good.
Excellence rating: Very good -- 4 stars

Thanks, Cady,
At least that gives me something to look forward to. Do you have any idea when it will be out?

Book 3 -- Brambleberry House
I know when the book is out <g>. It is indeed August -- called A SOLDIER'S SECRET. It's the story of Anna Galvez and Army Lt. Harry Maxwell, a very sexy wounded helicopter pilot who comes to stay at Brambleberry House to figure out what he's doing with his life.
Thanks so much for your comments! I'm glad you liked the book.

Glad to know my brain isn't totally dead. I will be looking forward to August - any chance we will see her brothers again - I know I am greedy.

They don't show up in the book. Sorry! But she does talk about them a bit with the hero and you can catch up with what's happening in their lives a little. She also mentions another brother Marc (whom I haven't really focused on much. He was the younger bro of Daniel and Ren but older than Anna). His wife just left him with three kids. I'm thinking of doing his story sometime -- I just have to figure out the best place.
And BTW, on a completely different book but on the same topic of recurring characters, I just finished another book in the Cowboys of Cold Creek series. It's a Christmas book I decided to set in the same area (THE COWBOY'S CHRISTMAS MIRACLE -- SSE 11-08) and there are repeat appearances by some of my favorite characters from that series, especially Jake Dalton and his wife Maggie, who play a somewhat significant role.
I just can't leave these people to their Happily Ever After <g>

I am horrible with remembering names, but I think Maggi was the war vetern right - I loved that story one of my favorites from '06. Since I have your ear, do you have a new series coming out in SRS or are you focusing on SSE now?

SSE or SRS
At this point, I'm focusing on SSE. I can't say I won't write another SRS again because I do love them but most of my ideas right now are family-type dramas that fit better at SSE. And you're absolutely right, Maggie was the injured war veteran. Their book was DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT -- SSE 5-06.
Sorry to hijack your blog for a minute, Donna <g>
