19. Jory Strong: Spirit Flight ~ Spirits Shared ~ Two Spirits [ebooks ~ 245 pages]

These three stories, while quite able to stand alone, are excellent when read one after the other ~ too bad that I started with the last one first… but that happens with me a lot!

I came across a preview of Two Spirits at the end of another eBook that I read and it really appealed to me.  Then halfway through there was mention of Tenino’s cousins and the way that they had found their mates.  I checked and lo and behold, there were the first two stories!  Needless to say I was quite pleased to have them all ~ and then read them in the proper order.

 SYNOPSIS:
   All three, Ukiah, Tekoa and Tenino, are all of the tribe People of the Thunderbird; their connection with the land is much more than just mystical, it’s part of who each of them is.  They each live a satisfying life, but they all experience loneliness and each hopes that he will find his mate.  But they’ve not found a mate within their people and so are resigned to live alone.
                                 *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *
   In Spirit Flight, Ukiah is an artist; primarily he carves figures of animals.  Each of his sculptures, regardless of size, is imbued with a sense of life that doesn’t escape the eye of the viewer.  He also runs the Lodge that is a much-sought after vacation spot on their land.
   Spirits Shared is Tekoa’s story; he is Ukiah’s older brother and the sheriff.  While most dream of one mate, Tekoa’s dreams always have been of two; one woman and one man.  But how likely is it that his deepest wish will come true?
   In Two Spirits, Tenino, at last, finds his mate.  He is cousin to Ukiah and Tekoa and works as one of Tekoa’s deputies.  The mate of his deepest desire is male; definitely not easy to find.

 MY NOTES:

   I really enjoyed these stories; especially in regard to the background of the spiritual beliefs of the people.  Mysticism and legend are elements that always work for me and Jory Strong did a wonderful job in this respect.  She also created characters that I very much enjoyed reading about and that I cared about.
   I discovered during the challenge last year that I enjoy some of the spicier romances ~ as long as they are romances!  I’m not a fan of erotica ~ I need the romantic element, the emotional connection of love for it to be something that I enjoy.  And these stories, even with the different sexualities involved, work for me on this level.  There may have been a tad too much sex really for the flow of the stories but, what the hey! ~ I still liked ‘em.

 RATING:

Great / Very Good ~ 3 stars

Inferno {explicit sex; very graphic language; anything goes ~ there are threesomes & m/m sex involved in the latter two stories.}

On Strong

I've read most of her other books and didn't know this one was available. I really like her writing, erotic but well done. Her Tarot series was really good. Will have to see about getting these. Thanks glad I saw this post. I'm still having a hard time keeping track of what everyone's reading. I know I'm missing good books and I hate that. You know I don't have a thing of my own to read,  Yah right!

Books

Yeah, I guess you're like me eh Deb... not enough books to keep us going.
I'm definitely going to be looking into the Tarot books ~ sure liked these three!
  Thanks for the info ~ I'm glad that you saw this too... I can always use more books waiting to be read.  Tongue out
