2008 RITA Award finalists announced!

What's new.bmp

We interrupt our regularly scheduled blog bash for an important announcement and a rousing SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!

Several of our authors made the list of this year's finalists for the 2008 RITA Awards®. The 2008 RITA honors romance fiction published in 2007, and over 1,000 novels and novellas were judged in 12 categories. Winners of the awards will be announced August 2nd at the RITA and Golden Heart Awards Ceremony to be held at RWA's Annual Conference in San Francisco, California.

“We are proud to recognize these finalists and the outstanding contribution they have made to the romance genre,” said Sherry Lewis, president of Romance Writers of America. “The RITA Award has particular meaning to the winners because it is judged by their peers.” This is the equivalent to an Oscar award nomination for a Romance author..

Congratulations to the 2008 RITA and Golden Heart award finalists! You can see ALL of the nominees listed on the RWA site here. But I just want to point out that THREE of best first book finalists are from the Mother Ship...congrats!

The Mile High club's US release

Hi Katherine

I can answer the question about my Mod Ex The Mile High Club which finalled in the Contemporary Series Romance category. It's out this month in the Presents collection 'Taken by the Millionaire' under the title The Millionaire's Blackmail Bargain.

Kelly Hunter's book Sleeping Partner has been out in the UK and Australia but has yet to get a US release scheduled - but we're all keeping our fingers crossed on that one because it's brilliant and it'd be a real shame if North American readers missed out on it.

cheers Heidi

Congratulations on your nomination!

RE:2008 RITA AWARD FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

As a Harlequin/Harlequin Imprints fan, I am especially pleased that Harlequin Authors did so well as finalists in the 2008 RITA Awards.  However, taking NOTHING away from ANYBODY, should one find this news surprising? Undecided (that's "Harly" thinking)

What a fabulous shortlist this year.  So many of my writing buddies, but I'm especially pumped for Natasha Oakley who writes alongside me at Harlequin Romance.

Short, no sex, but a great story will always shine through.
