#214 Shock Therapy – Olivia Gates

Damian and Calista are recovering from Jake's (Calista's ex) nearly
successful attempt to kill them. They've let people believe they
actually are dead, have invented new identities for themselves and are
slowly recovering, when they have a major falling out. Damian thinks
they need to bring the war to the people trying to generate a pandemic
catastrophe while Calista thinks they should heal more first, so Damian
throws a wobbly and leaves Calista and her best efforts are useless in
finding him. Then a couple of months later the bodies start piling up.
The baddies are trying to discover what happened to the lethal agent of
destruction and they're terrorizing her old team into revealing its
location. So Calista realizes Damian was right and then he lets himself
be seen and she discovers the deaths were only a fraction of what the
baddies intended, Damian had managed to limit the losses. So they try
to bargain with the baddies to gain time enough to protect everybody
and then come up with a plan to kill all the baddies, but will everyone
survive this last-ditch attempt?
Those of you who've read my challenge blogs since 2006 will probably
remember me raving about Damian, who we discovered through Calista's
eyes in Strong Medecine and whose story was continued in Radical Cure.
Then the Bombshell line was discontinued and Shock Therapy was one of
the casualties, but Olivia was really nice to me and sent me this book
when I was suffering from Damian withdrawal and all I can say is WOW!
Somebody needs to publish this book so that I can have it in my hot
little fist, because I'm going to wear out the computer screen
rereading this one. I'm not usually a fan of first person pov but I'm
not sure my heart could withstand Damian from his own pov and I don't
think it would add anything we don't already have. Besides I "get"
Damian, I don't need anyone to explain him, I just want to bask in his
presence. So what did I love about this book (maybe it would be quicker
to say what I didn't love – nothing at all). I loved the way Damian
left her at the beginning because although Calista didn't "get" that, I
did, he could see that arguing was futile, so he just went and did what
needed to be done. Then he allowed her to find him, when it was time to
move on. I love how he loves her, how he's strong enough to let her be
strong, that he doesn't try to change her. I could read another ten
stories about the two of them, I loved the ending and I can't wait for
this to be published and for Olivia to get a contract for the rest so
that I can keep on loving Damian. On the days when DH and I are having
frequency problems (communicating on different frequencies) Damian
restores my faith that it will be a temporary problem. Damian is up
there with the Brothers, just keep him coming!

I'm so jealous!

I'm so jealous! I loved her Bombshells and wanted more. Wish they could do it as a Mira or SRS. I would love to have this one to add to the other two.

What's wrong FF?

I was just saying to Olivia that as long as she wants to write about him, I want to read about him, but slightly less long-windedly Smile Innocent Laughing

((((((Sadhbh))))))

You can imagine how hard I was hit, (along with all Bombshell authors and readers) when I learned it was no more and that Shock Therapy wouldn't be published, and even worse, that I had no hope of continuing Calista's and Damian's stories at all. And to hear you say this about the book that I'm still mourning is the best medicine for my grieving heart. So...KissKissKiss

Somebody needs to publish this book so that I can have it in my hot little fist, because I'm going to wear out the computer screen

From your lips to whatever power that be that can make this happen!!!

Hope you got a good fix of him with Shock Therapy. Laughing

So what did I love about this book (maybe it would be quicker to say what I didn't love – nothing at all).

Oh, my! SurprisedLaughingKiss

I loved the way Damian left her at the beginning because although Calista didn't "get" that, I did, he could see that arguing was futile, so he just went and did what needed to be done. Then he allowed her to find him, when it was time to move on. I love how he loves her, how he's strong enough to let her be strong, that he doesn't try to change her.

I'm glad you got why he left Calista. She got it eventually too, and that crisis was another stage in their relationship that I relished exploring. I just love to put my characters through as many emotional wringers as possible. Wink

I could read another ten stories about the two of them, I loved the ending and I can't wait for this to be published and for Olivia to get a contract for the rest so that I can keep on loving Damian.

And I have at least ten more stories about the two of them and can only cross my fingers your wishes come true on day!!

On the days when DH and I are having frequency problems (communicating on different frequencies) Damian restores my faith that it will be a temporary problem.

Oh, wow. But can I ask, how does Damian accomplish such a feat?Smile

Damian is up there with the Brothers, just keep him coming!

Now that's a statement! And if only I *can* keep him coming (in *your* version, of course.Wink)

Thanks Sadhbh for this incredible review. I hope one day I'll be able to tell you that Shock Therapy and Lethal Treatment, and maybe a contiunation of Damian's and Calista's adventures will be a reality...

Olivia - I'm glad you liked my review

even if only one hundredth as much as I like Damian Wink

Thank
you for sharing him with us, because I know you're on tenterhooks every
time you share one of your creations with us, but you're the one doing
us the favour, because you could find someone else to write a good
review, but without Damian and Farooq I wouldn't have something to
write a good review of.

Hugs
