24. Susan Andersen ~ Coming Undone ~ HQN Romance

I’ve had this book in my TBR since the book was released… I know, I know… what the HECK was I thinking?  I really must have forgotten the impact that Susan Andersen’s stories have for me, ‘cause otherwise this book would have been read within days of my acquiring instead of months.  *Sheesh*
 What's more perplexing is that this is the follow-up book to Hot and Bothered ~ Jared's sister Tori and John Miglionni’s story... what was I thinking??

 SYNOPSIS:

   Priscilla Jayne (aka P.J.) Morgan has struck it big on the country music scene after years of work and never having enough.  She’s got a big summer tour scheduled, but before everything gets going, she’s going to take a break.  Before she left on her trip, though, she had to fire her manager for embezzlement ~ too bad her manager was also her mother… the same mother that never gave much thought to her daughter growing up.

   Jared Hamilton works for his brother-in-law’s P.I. / Security firm, Semper Fi Investigations, and John’s latest client is B-I-G.  Wild Wind Records has hired the firm to find their missing latest big star, Priscilla Jayne:  She’s gone off the radar and, unfortunately, the only one saying anything about her is her trash-talkin’ mama.  Of course when Jared hears who he’s going to be looking after he’s more than a little flabbergasted.  His history with P.J. goes back 15 years to some very intense times on the streets of Denver ~ is he sure that he can open himself up to someone that meant too much to him so long ago?

 MY NOTES:

  Wow, wow, wow!  Susan Andersen’s been a big-time favourite of mine for awhile now and this book definitely illustrates the reasons why.  Her stories have a touch of humour to them, but it’s nicely leveled off with an emotional component that hits right at the heart.  Her characters, even the secondary ones, are impossible to ignore ~ they have a way of making a home in the heart and memories of the reader, or at least in this reader.

  Her characters are real and evoke real feelings as the story progresses ~ and the suspense portion of the story is never too much, but certainly enough to keep the reader in their seat and glued to the pages.  Fabulous!!
