#26 Settling Back – Lainey Bancroft (Wild Rose Press)

Angelina and Billy were high school sweethearts but her mother always told her
not to settle so she moved to Toronto to the bright lights and career
as a photographer and left Billy behind, got into a relationship with
Philip but has begun to resent the way he wants to manipulate her.
When Angelina's grandmother gets sick she moves home to help and
falls for Billy all over again. Billy is still in love with her, but
she still doesn't know whether staying would mean settling.

I read a
draft of this, and am fascinated how some relatively minor changes
have made it so much better, and the conflict so much tighter. Nice
hometown romance feeling about a woman unwilling to settle, wanting
to make sure she's making the right choice for her life, but all her
friends/family are giving her conflicting advice and yet criticising
her for not choosing. I found them very believable (annoying) and am
glad I don't have them giving me advice. I loved to hate Heather, and
am glad I don't have anyone like that in my family. I'll probably
pick this up in print format when it comes out this summer, because I
don't really like ebooks, and this one will be a keeper.

OMG woman! You might have given me a heads up. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to laugh and cry at the same time when you haven't even had your first cup of coffee yet?

And I'm sure you know when this comes out in print, I'll SEND you a copy!
