Score: 3 1/2
This book had some really good stories, but they were more urban fantasy and didn't all have endings that satisfied my desire for a HEA.
Harrison's story: Rachael is an 18 year old girl who wants to follow in her father's footsteps and become a kick-butt operative in a CIA like organization for the paranormal. She is a witch, but doesn't believe she has strong enough magic to pursue that. Her brother makes a dare that gets them both more than they had intended. One source said that this was a prequel to her Hollows series which I have not read.
Sands story: I LOVE Lindsay Sands! This is a very funny story about a girl who's brother has created a machine that gives people the ability to shape-shift. She gets caught in the ray, then chased by a crazed man who wants to "run experiments" on her new form... all during the Christmas parade when she was SUPPOSED to be getting closer to the hunky guy who owned the shop next to hers..Same source as above says this was a sequel to her story in Dates from Hell.. Great story... As a stand alone, I'd give it 5 stars.
Liu's Story: A kickbutt Chinese agent who is the product of her structured government and almost non-feeling finds herself continually chased by evil vampires, along with a man that she is not sure she can trust nor is she sure what he IS.
Pettersson's Story: This story was a prequel to her Zodiac series. The good guys are "Light Zodiac" and the bad guys the "Shadow Zodiac". The characters are comic book super heros to the children who read their "history" and think them only fictional characters. Zoe is trying to save her granddaughter who has been snatched by the Shadow Zodiac. That means she has to face the leader of the Shadow Zodiac again... and last time she tricked him and gave him his worse betrayal ever... This had some interesting concepts (like the comic books being their history records) but, while it was probably great for a prequel, it wasn't so great of a stand alone story cause it left too many questions for me.
