#271 Marriage at Circle M – Donna Alward (HR #3978)

Grace works herself into the ground trying to escape her memories but she's not fooling Mike. He left her years earlier because he had nothing to offer her but now it's time for them to pick up where they left off. But Grace isn't the same. Can he overcome her objections and convince her they have a future together?
Wow I got so annoyed with Grace, a hysterectomy is not supposed to leave you brainless! I loved Mike and how he kept going back and trying yet again. She didn't deserve him and I couldn't understand Alex finding HIM exasperating. Of the two, Grace was far the more clueless. Still I loved the story, nice one Donna!

This was the first book I read by Donna Alward.  Enjoyed this one a lot, esp. the ending.  Really love her new one, March 2008 book, I think..

Sadhbh, it's interesting

Sadhbh, it's interesting that you're reading them backwards.  And a little scary to me...I like to think I grow with each book, but who knows!

As far as Grace....she seems to be a character that pushes buttons.  I've had responses that people either love her or they don't.

Funny thing is I can see how that is possible.

As the author, of course i loved her.  I cried with her.  And I think what it came down to, for me, wasn't that she was clueless, but that she was blind.  What seems obvious to a lot of people wasn't obvious to her.  She was too hurt by her past to have perspective.  And I think your frustration with her was within me too even though I didn't know it...when Mike comes out and tells her she's been hiding behind her past, that wasn't something I planned, actually.  Mike was just there saying it and I was as surprised at it as Grace was.  I actually sat back in my chair and said, "That's it."  That was the fundamental truth that she was too blind to see.  And she didn't want to believe it, even though she knew it was true.

It probably sounds odd talking about them like they are really people but they become that way in the writing.  LOL. And FWIW I loved Mike too.  I loved him a lot.  I still do...though I have to say Jonas gave him a run for his money, don't you think?

Thanks for reading,

Donna

didn't want to wait for one and two when three was already here and readable Wink

I have known people that clueless, and in real life have no more patience with them than with Grace.

I like your voice and have read your other books and enjoyed them so it's not as if she managed to scare me away Laughing
