#286 The Italian's Wife by Sunset by Lucy Gordon (HR #3968)

Della needs Carlo for her history TV series but when she goes to Italy she falls in love with him, even though it's doomed to failure. She's nearly seven years older than him with an adult son and his mother doesn't approve. Carlo can't understand her problem, she's the love of his life! What other reason do they need to get married and stay married? But Della fears losing him to a younger woman several years down the line, so she runs home and though she finally comes to her senses, there's a plane crash in which she's seriously injured and so she doesn't want to tie Carlo down to a near invalid.
I found it difficult to identify with Della, she could have done with a brain transplant to change her attitude! She was really TSTL to try and scare away a man who loved her so much. The ending had me in tears. Excellent book.
