Mary McHale is a loner, an orphan who's been taking care of herself for years, who comes to work as a wrangler on Towbridge ranch so her horse can rest and recuperate and so she can feed herself while she's waiting. Jonah Lanigan is intrigued by her resemblance to his neighbours and also by his attraction to what's supposed to be a temporary worker.
I had the impression I'd read this one before but it was in March 2006 so it definitely requalifies and I didn't quite remember the details so I did reread it in full (this is what comes of buying lots with doubles in them)
