Amanda is a stripper – an exotic dancer about to leave to become a high-school teacher and Rick is the barman, actually a cop working undercover to discover what happened to the dancers who have disappeared. Is Amanda involved or just an innocent bystander? Will Rick realise that he knows her from home? When Rick's brother shows up and tries to hit on Amanda, will Rick defend his brother or the stripper? And what about Julia, the woman who's living in Rick's apartment? Will she be the next dancer to disappear?
I liked the way this was linked to One Stormy Night, really loved this story and the way Rick was so accepting of Amanda, would love to see glimpses of them in subsequent books, would REALLY love to see the book where Robbie gets his comeuppance!

This was a very good book!
Would like to see Julia's story as well.

I wonder if a stripper could
I wonder if a stripper could ever get a job as a high school teacher in the States? I personally don't think so. All the old biddies with axes to grind would come gunning for her. (<=How's that for a mixed metaphor?

that bit was well explained
the school board were very liberal and had been to the nightclub to see her dance
it was also explained that they would be the exception rather than the rule

I don't think she was a school teacher, exactly,
I believe Amanda was going to teach at a college, or junior college, and it was the deans who came to see her.
There was a teacher in our school district who lost a lot of weight, took belly dancing, and began to wear very revealing clothes to school. It was such a distraction with the teenage boys, the administration finally had to tell her to dress more conservatively. But Amanda wouldn't have dressed to show off her body.
