Maggie goes to the Appalachian mountains to meet the grandmother she never knew, the natural healer of their clan, who's suspicious of outsiders and of Maggie because she's a nurse. Maggie meets Abram, a soldier who lost his leg in Iraq, who doesn't want to let anyone close. Maggie thinks it's just a quick visit to retrieve her mother's belongings, but will Granny and Abram give her reasons to return to Heather's Hollow?
Intriguing atmosphere and attitudes, quite predictable but an enjoyable romance. NFM
