This book is the latest in the Cavanaugh Justice Series.. according to the author notes, it is due to the many requests from her fans... so to her fans everywhere, THANKS!  It was an AWESOME book... and maybe there are now a few more in the wings based on the ending...

 Ben is the chief of detectives now, but years back, he was on the beat, partnered with Lila.  Lila, a policeman's widow as well as an officer herself on deskwork, approaches her old partner for his help with the many harassing phone calls she's been getting in the middle of the night. 

Both married to other people when they were partners on the force, Ben and Lila are now both widowed and the spark of desire that they previously kept dampened down between them as they honored their wedding vows flares back to life now that they are both free.

I really loved this book.  You don't have to have read the others in the series to fully enjoy it.  It would have been a 5 star book, only I figured out the mystery too early... although I didn't really care cause the book was just too good to put down.
