38. Daughter of the Blood by Nancy Holder
Daughter of the BLOOD by Nancy Holder
Bk 2 of The Gifted, Silhouette Bombshell #117, Dec 2006
Book 2- had a confusing start for me as I'd just finished book 1 and she'd been in New Orleans... book 2 starts in New York where she's already become a rookie NYPD officer. Once I realized it was a dream- the story went great!
Isabella has learned that her parents weren't who she thought they were, that her mother is dying and the only man she knows she can trust is Jean-Marc- still regent to her family's house 'Guardienne', in line for the same position in his own family. Only at the end of book one he was badly injured.
She has a vision of where Alain is being held- a different direction than Michel (her aide-de-camp). She chooses the she thinks is most loyal to her and directs her to secure others to aide them in the pursuit of Alain. She doesn't find out until it's too late that those helping her are assassins and they're only help to her is to set her up to be killed.
Plenty of political intrigue continues as she tries to do what's best for herself, those she loves and the House of Flames- her house. In the end she learns that's not the only house she belongs to and the choices she makes can either save or kill those she loves in New York as well as a large portion of those in New Orleans.
- I was disappointed when the Bombshell line ended... and happy to learn that most of the series that were still open are continuing under other series. What was to be 'Daughter of the Shadows' in June 07 is becoming the 'Son of Shadows' in the Silhouette Nocturne line in Aug 2008. Awesome because this book has a very open ending!
