Investigating 101 by Debra Webb

Bk 1 in her Colby Agency: New Recruits series, HR Intrigue #909 April 2006

Victoria Colby-Camp finds herself at odds with herself, somewhat bored with her life going so well.  She realizes it has to do with the business and bringing new blood.  So she puts her agency in a job fair and going against the grain, dropped the age requirement and added 'no experience necessary.'

Todd Thompson has an oversized ego, which just got him fired from his last job.  He sees the ad in the paper for the job fair with the Colby Agency listed and feels that's his best bet.

As he takes on an assignement that will determine his fate with the agency, he veers from their traditional path and decides not to call in the knowledge he's gained, but instead pursues it himself.  Despite finding himself drawn to the agency's client- Serena Blake, he's willing to do almost anything to get the job done.  Serene has her own secrets but she's certain Molly's husband has something to do with her disappearance several weeks ago, especially as she's pregnant!

Debra Webb is one of my favorite authors.  This was a great read, got a little slow, but it took off and the events she contrived for Molly caught me completely by surprise!

Ooh, Colby's.
