#51 Tall, Tanned & Texan, 24 Hours Island Fling, by Kimberly Raye, Blaze 2006

Challenge: Does he fit the story? Very Well

Does he suit the heroine?  Extremely Well

Would he suit you if the adventure was yours?  No… not into Extreme Sports or cows

Does the guy on the cover represent your mental picture of the hero the author has penned and if you were casting a movie of this book, who would play the hero?  Not on the cover …. No idea as of now

Deanie Codge had finally had it.  Big Daddy, who owned Big Daddy’s Auto & Body shop in Romeo, Texas had gone on vacation and left Harwin Mulligan, the low-down, sneaky rat bastard brake specialist in charge of the shop instead of her, Romeo’s best mechanic. She took care of the ladies cars at the senior center.  They were the ones that missed her. Harwin, the low-down, sneaky rat bastard, had stolen her promotion and cheated on her with Dora Mae Shriver, so Deanie signed up for a two week sexual boot camp on EDEN Island in the Caribbean to find her inner vixen. She had gotten a job in Dallas and an apartment and was going to create a new feminine outlook and have cosmic sex and have an earth shattering orgasm.

Deanie (Nadine) had grown up with five older brothers. Her mom had died when she was very young and Deanie was a tomboy almost in self defense. She had one great love in her life and he had turned her down and left town.  Her boyfriends were few and far between and knew as much about sex as she did, so she left her brother Clay a note with information on what she was doing and boarded a plane. She met Savannah Sierra Ellington, a beautiful young woman who was out to wreak revenge on her boyfriend and Mavoreen, a senior citizen who claimed a billionaire was meeting her in the Caribbean on the plane from Texas to Miami.  She also bumped into Rance McGraw, her brother Clay’s best friend who just happened to be on the plane too. It was a setup. She knew it. Clay had sent Rance to stop her any way he could and she was not buying it any more. She had loved Rance all her life… since she was four years old and he never looked at her as a woman. He was a former pro football player who you saw on TV promoting his Extreme Sports stores. He dated models and actresses. She was a tomboy mechanic. She was going to Eden no matter what.

Rance missed the Deanie who followed him around and baked him cookies, and sat next to him on the bus.  She had been there for him thru everything and now she didn’t want him around. He couldn’t believe it.  When his parent died, it was Deanie who sat next to him and gave him a jawbreaker.  She had always been there for him and he wanted her to want him now…. not that he wanted a commitment or anything. Just the way it used to be, so he offered to give her lessons.

This book was a total delight.  Both Deanie and Rance needed to find that inner person who saw the other as the other half of themselves.  They both had to figure out where they stood in the scheme of life.  Rating Excellent

I've liked every book I've read by this author but I've been leery of her Blaze books (although I do have one in my stack) as the Blaze line has been SO hit and miss for me.  I guess I need to break down and read of her her books in the line, eh? Smile

Hi

Jo you should move it closer to the top.  It was a good read.

Deb... this one is fun and not as heavy sex. I really enjoyed the memories of riding on the bus, the jawbreakers, the marbles  the growing close and the denial. I am looking forward to Dead Sexy which I understand is really good.

Sounds really good Jeannie, I've never read a Blaze, but might look this one up!

Hi Kate

This one is worth the try. It was well written and involved both characters growing up into their real potential.
