Laura Spencer was the General Manager of the Contessa Hotel in post Katrina New Orleans.
Her family had owned it for over 100 years. Her mother owned 80% of the shares, her sister Chloe owned 10% and she owned 10%. When Jackson Hawke came in with the information that he had purchased the loan that she did not know her mother had taken out using the shares as collateral and had defaulted on, she called him a liar. She would have known if there was $15 million in loans on the hotel. After discovering that her mother had indeed taken the loans to pay back taxes and to make repairs and to fund her latest husband’s club in Paris, she is devastated.
Hawke is surprised at this feisty opponent. He offers to buy her shares and keep her on as General Manager at a hefty salary increase, but she isn’t buying it. She doesn’t just fold, she decides to fight for her right to own and run this hotel. She has wanted this her whole life. She persuades Chloe to sign over her shares and goes out looking for funding. There is a clause that she has 30 days to find the funding before the hotel is his. He wants to make a bet that she will not be able to get the funding. If she wins the hotel is hers. If he wins she spends the night in his bed….. not sleeping. She accepts that challenge.
Unknown to them in the beginning is that she was dating his half brother Matt Peterson. There is no love lost between the brothers.
Can Laura get the money to save the hotel without sleeping with Jackson Hawke? Does she really want to? Will Matt interfere with the mix?
