Owen Winston lied to several high profile clients of Mac Valentine and the left his financial firm.
Mac vowed to get even and even told Owen that his daughter was said to be very lovely. Mac had his assistant book an appointment with Olivia Winston, an owner of No Rings Required. They hired out mostly to high powered businessmen to decorate their homes and setup their dinner parties and business dinners.
Olivia is a gourmet chef. Mac hires her to decorate his home for a new prospective client. She knows that he is in conflict with her father, but does not know the details. She goes to his home and is pleasantly surprised. It is beautiful but is minimalistically decorated with some rooms that have no furniture at all. She ends up getting stranded there that night due to a snow storm and finds the house is freezing. She ends up staying the night but not until after she stops him at the gate from getting her to bed. She has carte blanche and when he arrives home the next day he is amazed at the warm family like atmosphere she has created. She even got his heat working. His clients are due in a day or so and she fills the house with furniture and decorations and the smell of home cooking.
The book shows the similarities and dissimilarities in their upbringing. She was rich and neglected – he was in foster care and neglected. There is conflict with a college buddy of his that she had gone to high school with. There are the clients who love the home she has created, the food she has prepared and the activities she has organized. Mac is still set on revenge but is clearly being won over by this extraordinary woman.
A very good read. I have to see if I have the other two partners in No Rings Required… this is the second book because one partner is already pregnant and the other is hinted at the end of the book.
