The Sheik’s Unsuitable Bride by Liz Fielding
Desert Brides series, Harlequin Romance #3999, Jan 2008
When a sheikh thinks about marrying, his first choice for a bride would hardly be his chauffeur!! When Zahir arrives in America, his normal driver is ill and Diana is there to fill in. She’s not the typical driver- far from quiet and subdued, she involves him in conversation, makes him laugh and feel alive.
During this trip to America, his mother is making the arrangements for his arranged marriage, the way it has been done by tradition for many years. Yet as time goes by, Zahir finds himself more involved with Diana and when the tabloids show him and Diana dancing in the park and the press is going crazy, he spirits her and her family off to his desert home. What they share becomes stronger, until she learns about his arranged marriage. So she returns to America without telling him and her family remains their until their travel plans home can be made. Zahir finally makes a decision on his bride choice and despite family, tradition and all that he’s been raised to know- he chooses Diana. So he heads to her home in America…

You must have been tired when you posted this
(and maybe you waited awhile before posting)? since it takes place in London and his made-up kingdom.
You didn't say if you liked this one or not? I'm guessing not so much since you didn't rave about it. I liked it but not as well as the one in which his cousin (whom we see early on in his book) and Lucy get together. That was The Sheihk's Guarded Heart (Sep 06) and takes place about 7 years earlier -- Zahir is seen a bit in that one, too.
As a matter of fact, The Sheihk's Guarded Heart made me stop bothering to read the summaries or titles of Liz's books b/c I tend to avoid Sheihk books and hers was so well done. It was the 2nd time in a year that I enjoyed a book by Liz that had a theme I tend not to like . . .

I loved this one, both for the taxi driving aspect
I loved the reference to the Knowledge, and also for the likeable
Sheikh aspect because there was a time when I wouldn't read a Sheikh
book to save my life, but Susan Mallery, Liz and Olivia Gates can
persuade me otherwise
