Their New-Found Family by Rebecca Winters

Harlequin Romance, #3867 Nov 2005

When she was younger, Rachel had fallen in love while on a cruise… Tris proposes marriage before the cruise ends and she accepts.

Only they part ways and Rachel never hears from him again.  She tries contacting all the places he said he’d be and when she had no luck, she chalked it up to a fling on his part so she doesn’t bother trying anymore.

Years later, Tris’ nephew Alain finds a love letter Rachel had written him in an old backpack and thinks maybe he can do to help his uncle recover his memory.

Unbeknownst to Rachel, Tris had a near fatal accident and lost many of the memories prior to it.  Thanks to the letter his nephew found, he decides to contact Rachel… only to learn he has a daughter!  Beyond furious he demands time to get to know his daughter and as Rachel sees the instant connection between father and daughter she knows she owes her daughter nothing less.  So they go to spend the summer in Switzerland at his family home.  And even though Alain originally called Rachel about Tris and the letter, finding his cousin and her mother coming to live with them was such a surprise.  He’d already lost both of his parents, and the fear of losing Tris made him angry.  While Rachel and Tris start out on a rocky road, they find themselves in love again- will Alain ever accept them enough for their lives to all be together?
