Lawyer Genevieve has to detour en route to her hiking holiday in Costa Rica to hand-deliver contracts to Harry Van Dorn. She doesn't suspect that he's a psychopathic sadist or that she's interfering with Peter Jensen's plans to kill Harry and then persists in believing that Harry is innocent until Harry escapes at the last minute and finally orders her killed.
Harry thinks Peter has been killed and when Peter helps Genevieve escape he also initially thinks G is dead, but when he realises he's been betrayed he demands that Genevieve be delivered to him to lure Peter back. Will his plan succeed?
The plot similarities to Black Ice were a bit too much, I initially suspected G's boss must have been trying to set her up, but no. I felt that it ended with a whimper instead of a bang and while I will get the other books at some stage, I'm not disappointed that they're not currently in my TBR as I wouldn't have read them straight away anyway
