If this book had been a standalone I probably would not have gotten it, never mind read it; but because it was part of the Bachelor Battalion series, I had to read it... and am I ever glad that I did! Appearances are not everything... and I should know that. Glad to see that this truism once again proves itself valid.
RATING:
Excellence: Great to Very Good ~ 3 stars
Steaminess: Sensual

FROM the BACK:
When a marine rescue mission went awry, Staff Sergeant Travis Hawks realized he was in for the fight of his life. He and Lisa Chambers ~ th euppity heiress he was trying to save ~ were stranded and forced to race across the Arabian desert to stay alive. Despite their bickering throughout the blazing hot days, one sultry night Travis and Lisa ignited a scorching passion that neither could forget. But when they reached safety, would the bonds they forged disappear like a desert mirage...or endure to the altar and beyond?
MY NOTES:
As I said at the top, I'm glad that I did read this book. Like the H and h ~ especially the H ~ who let appearances dictate behaviour, I had preconceived ideas about what the story would be like. A good lesson, especially when I've enjoyed so much the other books in the series.
But like other of Maureen Child's characters, neither let their preconceptions dominate their actions to the point of rank stupidity... uh, in other words, they were both intelligent enough to catch on early enough. I liked that ~ a LOT! Sure, Travis did have problems with what he thought, but that was part of the necessary difficulties needed by romance stories.
I am very glad to see that while I may have initially underestimated the author and her writing, that I was very wrong to do so... great story!
