Well, he’s done it again—given me a book I’d found almost impossible to put down.
In this installment of the Women’s Murder Club, Lindsay Boxer’s life goes into a bit of a tailspin. Her best friend and medical examiner Claire gets wounded in a random ferry shooting; she ends things with her man Joe; her reporter friend Cindy finds herself living in a building with its own murder mystery; and a beautiful little girl is kidnapped without so much as a ransom note.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the various plotlines unfold. While some parts were predictable, there were enough fresh spins to keep me turning pages long after I should have turned out the lights. The story drew me in and made me feel for the main character without being overly bogged down with introspection. Instead of Lindsay sitting on her couch lamenting a little girl’s abduction, we see her stomach turn when they uncover links to other children. They accomplish the same thing, only in this case the ever-changing cases made the story far more gripping.
James Patterson fans should love this story, but if you don’t like short chapters (yes, I’m referring to you, Sadhbh
), you’ll be disappointed to hear that the very short chapters I thrive on are still in use big-time.

Doh!!
Doh! I'm only on #4. In fact, I haven't even bought 5 and 6. Now I've got to go get them!
Have you read anything by his sometimes co-writer Andrew Gross? He's got two books out, I believe, and I'm very tempted to pick one up.

Shannon and Lori
Shannon, I don't think the later books will disappoint you. I hope you agree once you've had the chance to read them!
Lori, To me this book shows a more vulnerable side of Lindsay that I kinda like. Have you seen the "Womens Murder Club" TV show? I tried one episode and tossed it aside when it didn't immediately grab me, but I may need to give it another shot.
I haven't read any of Alex Gross's books, either. I'd be anxious to hear what you think of it if you do decide to try one.
Take care,

I noticed Andrew Gross
I noticed Andrew Gross because I happened to see his book in Costco the other day. I passed it up because I was trying to be good. (Okay, I'd already picked up three other paperbacks before that--I can only be so good). It looks intriguing, though, so I'll have to pick one up one of these days.
No, I haven't watched the Women's Murder Club. I have so little time for TV, and without Tivo, my television habits are "what's on whenever I happen to have the time". Which usually ends up being either HGTV or the Food Channel. LOL! I'll be curious to see how well it does.

I've only read the first two. I definitely have to catch up on this series soon. Of course I am adding more books to my ever growing to be read pile.
