85. Rogenna Brewer ~ The Marine's Baby ~ HSR #1478 ~ March 2008 [9 Months Later]

I first got this story because of a couple of comments that Deb (debkc3) made regarding the author and how much she enjoyed her writing.  Okay, so I was already somewhat hooked... then after reading a couple of reviews I knew that this was a story that I really wanted... so I got it!  It was everything ~ and more ~ than I had expected or hoped.  Fantastic story by a fabulous author.  This will be on my list of top books for 2008!

FROM the BACK:
In just a few months Caitlin Calhoun went from a wife to a widow to a mother-to-be.  All she'd wanted was to honor her dead husband by having his baby.  But that's not what she got.
Thanks to an unfortunate mix-up, her child's father is her husband's half brother, Lucky.  So how does she break the news that he's about to become a father?
Family is the last thing the war-toughened Marien expected to have ~ not with all the bad blood in his own.  But Lucky would never turn his back on a child...or the woman who's given him a second chance.

MY NOTES:
Boy as the Sperm Bank's mix-up became clear, they acted just as you would expect a company in the wrong in a big way, to act:  poorly.  They sure weren't thinking of the human element when they were trying to cover their a$$e$... and this story is all about the human element.  While Caitlin and Lucky were both trying to deal with what had happened in the best way possible, neither of them really had a clue as to how to go about it.  But the great thing about pregnancy is that it can give a couple time to get to know each other... and, while they both tried to fight their attraction, they did succeed.  But the mix-up with the sperm bank wasn't the only difficulty they faced:  Lucky's family was more than a little fractured and he had a lifetime of hurts to deal with.  Very touchingly done all the way around ~ and Rogenna Brewer in now on my autobuy list!

I'm so glad

I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. I really enjoy hers unfortunately she doesn't  write that many. Rogenna sent me an autographed book with my giftcard that I won in one of her contests. I love the autographed book more than the giftcard. Now I don't mind passing my other copy around.

Hey Deb...

Yeah, having an autographed copy does make it easier to share the other one.  I'm so glad that you mentioned how much you enjoyed her books.

Now I'll be doing the ol' backlist hunt.  Wink
