Anne was married to Tom but he was very controlling, telling her what to wear, what to eat, how to wear her hair, but just as she's decided she's had enough, he dies. So she fulfils her dream of becoming an US Marshal and six years after his death she finally gets to guard a witness, a mobster, but someone tries to kill them and then they're on the run but she discovers he's actually an undercover Marshal trying to discover who the moles in the Marshal's witsec program are. They can barely keep their hands off each other but Anne is wary because he knows things about her that she only ever told to Tom. What is really going on?
