92. Lora Leigh ~ Elizabeth's Wolf ~ Ellora's Cave (TPB June 2005)
It took me awhile, but I finally:
1. found this book
2. read this book
And I have the rest, to date, of the Wolf Breed books... I will be getting to them once March's challenge is over. And yes, I know, this book certainly doesn't fall into the any new or new-to-me categories, but after I finished reading Maria Snyder's trilogy I was at a complete loss as to what I could possibly read after those three outstanding stories. In fact, this was the third or fourth book that I started... the other three just couldn't do it for me. It doesn't happen often that I have difficulty starting new books, but when it does, there's absolutely nothing to be done but go with the flow. And I'm very glad that I went in this direction!
RATING:
Excellence: Excellent to Outstanding ~ 4.5 stars
Steaminess: Heat Wave to Inferno
BOOK READ:
Lora Leigh; Elizabeth's Wolf; Ellora's Cave; TPB June 2005 (ebook Sep 2004)
FROM the BACK:
Dash thought himself alone, a soldier, a fighting machine and no more.
Elizabeth made him realize he was a man.
Danger surrounds the woman his soul marked as his mate, death and blood and treachery that go beyond even his worst nightmares. But he will protect her and what she claims as her own. He was created to kill, trained to do it efficiently, and only a man bound to her, heart and soul, will have the strength to save Elizabeth and her prized possession.
MY NOTES:
I really didn't think that Lora Leigh could do it, create another line of Breed stories that rivals those of her Feline Breed tales... but with Elizabeth's Wolf she has definitely done it. Okay, I'm somewhat partial to wolves in general, but something about Dash really got to me. With the Feline Breeds, they had the Pride and their leader, Callan Lyons. Dash was alone, and had been alone since the age of 10 when he escaped the labs. He'd been on his own, striving to survive for many, many years ~ and he had... but at a price that was slowly destroying his soul.
Until he got a letter from a little girl and after that his life was never to be the same again. Talk about an emotional tale. Lora Leigh is a master at this, but I think that with Elizabeth's Wolf she set the standard.
There is a tantalizing sensuality that goes beyond mere sexuality and it permeates the entire story. Lora Leigh writes such beautifully rich, descriptive passages that make the story come alive.
The usual warnings regarding the sexuality of the story stand ~ but again, it's all totally tied up with a merging of spirits, hearts and souls that transcends mere sex and takes the reader into the world of soul mates. Another Fabulous LL story!
Books read in March: 25

Lora Leigh
I am totally additcted to the Breeds' series. Leigh's other books are worth the read, but there's something about the dark, tortured souls of these alphas that keeps me waiitng for the next one. Talk about a junkie--I'm pathetic!
This one was so good.
I loved seeing the heart of this Wolf Breed. Dash is just incredible isn't he? I didn't have a single doubt that you would love this book. Which Breed book are you reading next?
I thought this one
I thought this one was just outstanding. I remember crying in this one.

I loved loved most
I loved loved most everything about this story and the characters. The H was absolutely yummy.

Lora Leigh's Breed stories are unbelivable!
Rogirl, you're so right about the alphas in LL's Breed stories being so much more. They're definitely guys that I love spending time with!
Jill, I have Soul Deep (Coyote Breed), Aiden's Charity and Jacob's Faith and I'm missing Wolfe's Hope (which appears to be the first, with Jacob's story second...). So I guess I'm not sure what I'll do... other than see if I can't find Wolfe's Hope first! And, while I'd actually like to start with the first one first, if it's not possible... well, what else is new, eh? LOL And Dash is outstanding... the whole backstory of the aftermath after the explosion... and Cassie's letters ~ Wow!
Deb, it was far more than I had expected, that's for sure. I'm continually amazed at just how different Lora Leigh can make her characters, even considering the similarities in their pasts and all, they're very much individuals. And yep, the tears did well up a few times... so much emotional pain!
Kathy, I too adored Dash... he was totally my definition of a hero... and soooooo delicious!

I just finished reading In a Wolf's Embrace from the Beyond the Dark anthology and will start on Dawn's Awakening in a bit. In a Wolf's Embrace was awesome, of course. If you haven't already, check out LL's (I like that kalyko) website and see a full list of the Breeds stories and their chronology. As I stated, I'm obsessed and have found the list invaluable. I don't think the series necessarily needs to be read in order, but as in Jacob's Faith, previous characters are referenced throughout the stories, so I've found it helpful to keep them in order.
By the way, has anyone checked out Kresley Cole's A Hunger Like No Other? WOW! Her other Immortals After Dark series is worth the peek.
Anyway...It's a pleasure reading other's comments about my favorite authors. Happy reading to all.

I read and enjoyed the first
I read and enjoyed the first book to Kresley's series and have book#2 waiting in my tbr, along with several others of hers. One day i'll stop buying so i can catch up.

I've got it!!
Rogirl, I have to thank you for reminding me about LL's website. I just forget to check it... anyway, I went there and found that the story Wolfe's Hope is actually part of an anthology ~ Primal Heat ~ that I got just a short while ago! I'm thrilled that I've got it and don't have to go searching for it.
Then today after I finished at the gym, I stopped in at the bookstore (hey, it's practically on the way out... kinda) and got the anthology Beyond the Dark. Needless to say, I'm going to have to work it in with the other Breed stories that I have around. I'm so excited!
And I actually read Kresley Cole's A Hunger Like No Other during last year's challenge. She was one of the authors that I tried while in my fairly new paranormal stage. I enjoyed the story, and I'm looking forward to, eventually, reading the others in the series. Different, but very good nevertheless.

Kalyko - You bet!
Kathleen-I hate to say I will probably never catch up with all that I want to read. I have wish lists that I keep on what books I want. I started out with just one for Ellora's Cave, but now I have one for Samhain, New Concepts and Harlequiin. I am certifiable, I know, but I can't claim any other addictions unless you count Gerard Butler. Yummy!
rogirl, I'm quite sure i'll
rogirl, I'm quite sure i'll be right along with you in the, "never ever catch up catagory".

Oh
So this is the one that Kathy D. said I should read. Sounds interesting!

Rogirl, you got it!
Nothing like spending time with people that like, or love, the same stories that I do... sure don't have any of them in my life... even if they do read a lot. *sigh*
KathyD and rogirl... catch up? Just how would you do it?
Debbie, even among LL's other Breed stories, this one really stood out for me; it's definitely right up there near the top of all-time favourites.

The only way i can see
The only way i can see myself ever having a hope of "somewhat" catching up, would be if i stopped buying. And the only way there's a chance of that happening, is if they come up with a program for book-a-holics, that works., and then i'd have to faithfully attend of course.
Oh and yes Debi, this is the one.
Kathy D
A program for bookaholics?
They'd have to drag me there kicking and screaming. LOL
I don't want the cure
I don't want the cure!! I'll just plug along and read as much as I can and wish I had more time to read. We gotta have some vices and reading works just fine for me.

Yeah, there's no way that I'll ever give up reading...

I've nooo desire to give up
I've nooo desire to give up reading, but it sure would be wise to slow back on the buying so i could catch up on some favorites i'd love to read...or many for certain will never ever get read. lol
Kathy D
I just have to find a way to read faster that's all....
Or, as you say, slow down on the buying. Um,,, that'd be more work I think, but yeah, it'd probably be a good idea.
But then I've got all these awesome books sitting on my shelves... and I can pick and choose.
Gads, when I think that a year ago, my TBR list was about 10 books... and now I'm well over 400. How's that for obsession, eh?
Obsession and reading some fantastic book reviews.
