95. Bronwyn Jameson ~ Vows & a Vengeful Groom ~ SD #1843 (Jan 08)

I got this book for a couple, or more, reasons.
First is that the second book in the series is by Trish Wylie who's become a favourite and auto-buy author.  The first book ~ Vows &  a Vengeful Groom ~ was easily available, so point one.
The second reason is that it fits nicely into this month's New-to-Me Challenge as Bronwyn Jameson is definitely NTM
The third reason is kind of tied to the fourth reason; the common point being Theme.  All six of the authors writing the series are from Australia or New Zealand and fourthly is that this is a reunion story... I LOVE reunion stories!  So the reasons all came together and allowed me to broaden my horizons once again.  Gotta love it when that happens.  Wink

BOOK READ:
Bronwyn Jameson; Vows & A Vengeful Groom; SD #1843; January 2008
1st in the Diamonds Down Under mini-series

FROM the BACK:
                             HIS LOVER OF TEN MONTHS.
                               HIS WIFE OF TEN DAYS.
                                HIS EX OF TEN YEARS.
Ric Perrini, chairman of Blackstone Diamonds and Sydney's sexiest bachelor, still had one elusive prize to catch...Kimberly Blackstone.  Luring her back to her estarnged father's company, back to her birthright, would be Ric's toughest job ever.  Luring her back into his arms, his most pleasurable.  Ric had laid claim topart of Kim before; this time he'd accept nothing but her total surrender....

MY NOTES:
Okay I hate to be a harpy about this, but it drives me absolutely BUGGY!  I really don't think that these kinds of errors should occur, but they do and, while the annoyance with this error wouldn't affect my buying of the book (some would if they're glaring enough), it did itch at me off and on.  The error?  On the back of the book, the first sentence reads "His lover to ten MONTHS."... it was ten WEEKS... pretty big difference when you think of the story and how it progresses.   I know, a minor point, but sometimes I find the minor things get to me more than they should... my apologies.
Of course after going on and on about it, I'm here to say that I enjoyed the story.  I liked Ric ~ overbearing and aggressive as he was.  He, at least, knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it, and I really didn't come across anything that got my back up.  Kim, on the other hand, did, from time-to-time, get a little on my nerves:  her insistence in calling Ric 'Perrini', for one ~ that's another pet peeve of mine... when the h refers to the H ~ and love of her life ~ by his last name... just doesn't sit right with me.  BUT, she does have a reason for it, and for that reason it rather works, for the most part.
I guess the fact that Kim did get a little under my skin is a good sign though... she's a real-enough character that who she was, and how she was, mattered.  But I was pleased, as the story progressed, to find that I came to like and respect Kim more.
I'm certainly set up to enjoy the rest of the books in the series.  I was sure that I had the second one on hand, but for some reason I just can't find it... so back to the eHarlequin store (yeah, right... as if that's a problem!  I've already got 2 or three books on hold in my cart.Wink  Innocent)  And I'll just have to see if I can actually wait to get number two before I read the third, that IS in my hands.  Sealed
