#96 Wedding for One by Dawn Atkins (Duet #91)

17-year-old Mariah jilts 20-year-old Nathan by not showing up at the church when her mom lets slip that she knows about Mariah's pregnancy (she's not pregnant) and Mariah thinks that's the only reason Nathan proposed. Eight years later her parents bring her home in a panic because Nathan is about to leave their candy company in the lurch. Nathan persuades her to work for the company while she tries to convince him to stay. Will the wedding be rescheduled now that they're in the same town?
This was LOL funny in spots but the matchmaking and interference lost me – far too heavy handed. I've often wondered if mothers like Meredith recognise themselves in these books or whether they think it's some other woman

More than likely, the second option.  People NEVER recognize their bad features. Or at least they hide their recognition.
