Amy - Sisters (Book 1) - by Peg Sutherland 1997

Amy Hardaway stayed in her hometown insteaAmyd of moving away like her sisters. She doesn't realize she's nursing an old crush on the man who eventually married and divorced her sister. But now he's back. And his attraction to Amy flares up old feelings. She can't get involved with her sister's ex-husband --- can she?

Jon Costas is beginning to think he married the wrong sister all those years ago. Can he convince his family that getting involved with another Hardaway sister won't leave him brokenhearted - again?

Talk about a dysfunctional family! This trilogy takes the cake but it's a good read!

This is one of those series that have 3 stand-alone books but it starts off with 2 sub-plots in Book 1 and they won't be resolved until Book 3.

The first sub-plot is the parents of the 3 girls. Both used to be actors. Book 1 starts with the mother concerned about the estrangement that the sisters have to each other as well as to the parents. I mean when the kids don't come for a visit, you know something is wrong. How to fix it? The mother convinces the father to ‘act' out a divorce scenario. Surely the girls will be concerned enough to come home and try to get their parents 50-yr old marriage back on course, right? But will they be able to contain the acting to the girls' presence?

The 2nd sub-plot is that of a missing child. When oldest sister Megan's son was 4 yrs old, he was abducted. We read this in Book 1. But you have to read Book 3 to find out Megan's story. I have it. I'll let you know when I review it!

This was the 1st Peg Sutherland book I've read.
