Anyone know what language this is?

I received this foreign language edition of my book, Falling for the Frenchman in the mail but I can find no clue (that I can understand) anywhere on the book regarding its country of release.

Can anyone tell me what language this is? Is it Greek? Or Russian? I'd love to know.

I've managed to update the picture so it's better quality than my first attempt but now it's huge! Sorry about that.

Looks like Russian or Czech to me.  Could be Polish or Romanian.

I searched for the names I could read from your picture and I think this is Paralingua  an invented language from the Russian Federation

Clair, I'm pretty sure this is Russian ...... though the title doesn't translate to what the English one is ... it's totally different

 

I don't know how to simulate a cyrillac alphabet using my "latin" keyboard .... but your name is definitely in Russian or Ukrianian   ... I remember that much of my Ukrianian reading  ..... but the title I couldn't tell you what it means ....

 

just for info. Polish alphabet is the same as ours .. they use the "latin alphabet"

The letters are Cyrillic, an alphabet used by Russian, Ukrainian, and Bulgarian (and possibly some of the other former Soviet  Republics, I think Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan used Cyrillic, but might have changed to Latin)

Everything makes perfect grammatical and spelling sense for Russian. Ukrainian and Bulgarian have slight variations from Russian on the alphabet use. (Polish and Czech use the Latin alphabet). So, I'd bet a fair amount of money on it's being Russian. (HQ does publish in Bulgaria).

Unfortunately, the only Russian Harlequin I have is from 1995, but on the title page, it says, MOCKBA (Moscow) and the next page has a series of copyright symbols. One for the author, one for the cover artist's agency, and the last for the translation. It says (in Russian) "translated into Russian language." Russian looks like PYCCKNN where the two Ns are backwards and the last one has an accent on top.

I'm pretty sure Ukrainian would start YKP and Bulgarian would start with a letter that looks like a small B with a horizontal line on top and then b, then a letter like an A without the line in the middle.

So, check the words after the Copyright symbol.

The title translates as Sun in a Wineglass, I'm pretty sure.

I found the word for Moscow and on the next page, the word for Russian. So that's definite.

Oooh, Sun in a Wineglass. I like that, and it makes sense since it's set in an Australian winery.
