If I need a story that guarantees me a satisfying time I pick any book by Jennifer Crusie.
The story: Nina Askew is divorced, with a new job and a new apartment. The only thing she needs to be happy is a warm body at home. On her 40th birthday she gets herself a dog. Fred is no puppy and definitely not cute, but he knows how to draw her neighbor's attention.
Alex Moore is gorgeous and a successful E.R. doctor, but he also is 10 years younger than Nina. An impossible to breach relationship barrier, no matter how hard Alex tries.
This is not a re-read. I've kept a few of Jennifer Crusie's books for when I'm desperate for a good book. Anyone But You is as wonderful as I expected it to be. I found strong and very well-developed characters, snappy dialogs, tingling sex and a dry humor that had me laughing out loud several times. It is also Fred's story, who deserves his very own book. I'm not a dog person, but his antics were too funny to resist. Like any Jennifer Crusie book I own this will have a permanent place on my keeper shelf.
Rating: Keeper

I loved this book
so much!!! I thought it was very funny. And I fell in love with Fred. How could you not? Anyhow, I made my mil (whom is not an avid reader) and my sister read it as well. Now we're all addicted to her books.

I have a friend who doesn't
I have a friend who doesn't read any romance novels, but I did get her hooked on Jennifer Crusie. :-) Hmm, maybe I will give her my copy of Anyone But You. She'll love me for it.

I second the keeper rating
Fred is the BEST! This is my favorite JC book, by far.
