The Baby Bet by Kate Little (SSE – 05 ’08)

This is the third book in a series, which I didn’t know when I picked it up, but I think it reads well as a stand-alone.  Julia’s mother has gotten engaged again, after being married 4 times, you think she would hesitate, but no she has jumped in again.  Julia wants her to slow down, but once she meets her mom’s fiancee’s son, she understands a bit better.  However, can she open her organized mind to the disorder of love?  I liked this book and the set-up but had some issues with it.  I thought the pre-nup seemed sensible and so Julia’s beating herself up about it was annoying.  I also didn’t get the ending, way too fast and I still had questions about their communication. I especially didn’t like that she was going to keep the pregnancy secret.  Overall, the book was not bad, but the problems, for me, annoyed me.  The writing was good and the characters were interesting so I would likely give the author another shot.
