I learned a very valuable lesson over the weekend. I have been writing an idea to target to the blaze line, and had fifty solid pages going. I also have four year old son who loves to play games on my computer.
Yeah, i know i should have watched him closer, but i'll admit whatever he hit he did it up well. All of my folders on my pc were empty, totally. I was dumbfounded and dragged my pc to my computer guru brother and screamed help. after a litte while he got my stuff back, well almost all of it. All of the folders had info in them again, except one.
Yup, my fifty pages were gone, nowhere in cyberspace to be found. Talk about being upset, but i can't blame him. he didn;t know it would kill mommy's story. he just gets click happy. so my brother set up a log in for him, and set it to where he can't download or delete without a password so hopefully that will help.
What else will help is me getting a new laptop and giving him my old pc, then he can click and not kill my stuff, just his. So may advice is to back up evertime you write, or you'll be sorry. that and my brother gave me a memory stick to save to and hide, just in case.
I know my little boy is smart, but man that was amazing.
happy writing, and backup!

Oh, OUCH, Jody!
Man. I'm so sorry your computer guru brother couldn't get back the 50 pages. Did you at least have hard copy???

Oh no!
Oh, I feel for you .... it's not a fun time when you lose all that hard work with a simple click or push of the wrong key
(((hugs))) .. this is a very hard lesson

I can't imagine.
I am so sorry. I backup everyday and sometimes send a copy to my hubby's computer- just in case.
Maybe you can remember a lot of it?
