Baseball Blues

Tonight was ds's first baseball game for the season.  He is on a traveling Cal Ripken 10-12 yo team.  He is 10 and in 4th grade.  Several of my 7th grade students are on this team.  Talk about a HUGE age group!  DS had to sit the bench the entire game tonight.  It's hard and sad, especially since in the lower level he played all of every game pretty much.

Two of the other boys that moved up with him this year got to play.  One played several innings, and the other played third base one inning.

I hate it!  The game started at 8PM.  We just now got home at 11PM.  He's in fourth grade.  I'm a teacher.  Not to mention it is COLD, AND they called the game after the third inning because we were ahead by more than 10 points.  Technically, we should still be there.  Am l sad that we're not?

NO!  It's cold, late, and ds is just keeping the bench warm.  Looks like it  is going to be a long season.

Ahhh Cat!

I can't believe the age difference on that team!  That's incredible!  It is hard to watch our kids have to warm the bench, and when it's obviously unnecessary if the team was that far ahead, the entire team should have gotten to play.  I am a teacher too, and it makes me soooooo angry for my students to tell me they have an 8 p.m. game on a school night.  They should be in bed at 8 p.m.!  My favorite line from them is, "You can't give me homework, I have a game tonight!"  You'd better get it done while you're in class then!

My prayers are with you for the season!  Patience!!!

Hugs,

Chy

Thanks, Chy!  I have

Thanks, Chy!  I have students who do that to me, too!  I always tell them that they can take their homework with them and do it in the stands!!!!  JV has to watch Varsity and Varsity has to watch JV.

I tell the Cheerleaders the same thing!  School first, sports second!
