I loved this book. From page one it drew me in and made me like the characters. It was a surprise though to find out it was actually set in London, England and not Italy, since everything about it, title included, made me believe it was set in Italy when I picked it up.
Who can't identify with a character who loves chocolate and looks to it when her world crumbles in on her? Gio comes across as sexy, but also caring, with just enough flaws to make him interesting and human. Francesca, even when she's just lost her job and is clearly not at her best, comes across as likeable and ultimately lovable. It's also clear that ultimately she is more than just a damsel in distress in need of rescuing. She's a strong person in her own right, more than able to look after herself, which doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate help when it's offered. Don't we all?
I still like the original title 'Breakfast at Giovanni's' best but I love the book and will be looking for more by this writer.
