Beyond His Control (2008) by Stephanie Tyler (HBZ #384)

Assis. DA Ava Turkowski runs into more trouble than she bargained for on one of her current cases. Justin Brandt, her former BF and current Navy SEAL, has been secretly watching over her for the last nine years. Justin is also Ava’s brother’s friend and at his behest goes to Ava to watch her back again, with little information to go on. The case infiltrates more than either one of the pair realized and turns their lives around for a bit while letting them deal with the attraction that had always been there.

The story was great and had just the right amount of both the physical and emotional elements. There is another romance in the main romance. Not as developed, of course, but definitely there  Smile
