This is the first of the O'Banyon Brothers series by Jessica Bird, and it was a great start.
Sean O'Banyon is a major wall street super star. He's a rags-to-riches golden boy who pulled himself up by his own bootstraps. Elizabeth Bond, better known as Lizzie, is a responsible little soul who couldn't possibly have a life more different from Sean's. He's used to the jet setting high flying life, full of vapid, insincere and gold digging women. (I wonder about these stereotypes...) Lizzie is a nurse barely scraping by - there's an explanation for her situation in the book.
However, Sean is convinced Lizzie is still a gold digger in disguise, and she's just better at playing him. He still can't resist, however, and the two begin a relationship. Tragedy brings them together when Lizzie calls Sean with the news of his father's death. A lot involves that particular event.
I really liked the way the story moved, and the plot- but I will say there was some anomoly with how Sean acted, and how he was so classy. It felt that a little too much of the rough edged he-man character was thrown in there (if any of you have read books from the Black Dagger Brotherhood, you'll recognize it.) I love me some BDB - but not where it doesn't fit. Also, I was vaguely annoyed by how quickly Lizzie forgave Sean for his screwup - but I guess a) that's her nature and b) that's love.
I'm looking forward to the next books in this trilogy.
