I pulled this oldie out the other day and decided to read it, expecting that after almost 20 years it would not have the same pull on my heart that it did when it was first published. Imagine my surprise when I found actual tears pooling in my eyes. This timeless tale is not dated at all! Willa returns “home” after the Uncle who had banished her dies. She hopes to find belonging, but instead finds heartache. She also finds Clay. To Clay, Willa brings too many painful memories to surface—he just wants her gone. The story unfolds so beautifully. This book was on the way to Goodwill, but madeits way back onto my bookshelf. If you can find a copy, give it a read!
